Hello
Hello, my name is Steven Moreno, I am a freelance photgrapher based in New York City. I have experience using Adobe Software, especially Photoshop, Illustrator, and Lightroom. I am continuing to grow my skillset each day and getting into all forms of media. I have previously been able to provide photos for Brooklyn FC and their players. I’m currently seeking exciting opportunities in sports photography to expand my portfolio and work with athletes, teams, brands, and media outlets. If you’re looking for someone who can bring a fresh perspective and a creative touch to your sports imagery, I’d love to connect and discuss how I can help tell your story.
My Story
Sports have been instilled into my life for as long as I can remember; it wasn’t the spectacle that caught my attention, but it was the way it made me feel. The first memory I have of sports comes from when my family was all watching a game together, and they were all just yelling and screaming. I didn't know what was going on, and yet I wanted to join in the screaming. From that moment on, my eyes were glued to the screen anytime sports came on. Photography came along naturally in my life. Taking pictures of my friends on their phones gave me a sense of validation when I would see the final product. Like with every new hobby I would pick up, I was really into it and wanted to do it more. But what was different about this was that when I would struggle to create something, I would tend to just give up. This time, for some reason, I just couldn’t let it go. That feeling of wanting to make something that I would be proud of stuck and pushed me over the edge of wanting to keep going with photography.
With my interest in sports, I wanted to pursue a career in it and be able to be involved in the sports I loved. Luckily, I was able to combine the two with sports photography. With the connection I had with sports, it only started clicking with me how much of my own emotions I try to express through my own photos. The joy I feel when I look at childhood photos of my family and me. The connection with those photos is the same connection I have with my own photos that I create. Photography has helped me understand the importance of a moment happening in current time. It has even helped me understand what makes me happy in life. Sports photography creates a bridge of self-expression with my personal interests and has helped me understand myself. My photos convey a range of emotions, showing the extreme passion that comes along with being a part of the event. Getting close up and personal to truly understand sports in a different light; different than the usual sports photo that is shown.
